Trust & safety

ShackShare connects anglers with local shack owners. Here’s how we keep that safe for both sides.

Every listing is reviewed

A new shack is checked by the ShackShare team before it can be booked, and some changes a host makes later send it back for another look.

Payments stay on ShackShare

Renters pay through the site, by card, through Stripe. ShackShare never sees or stores a card number. Hosts are paid out through Stripe after the stay.

Keep it on the platform

Message hosts and renters through your ShackShare inbox, and book and pay here. A booking made outside ShackShare isn't covered by our cancellation policy, deposits or support, and asking someone to pay off the site can get a listing removed.

Damage deposits, handled fairly

When a shack has a deposit, it's held on the renter's card and released after the stay. If a host reports damage, they send photos and the ShackShare team reviews it before any of the deposit is kept.

Ice safety is on everyone

Conditions change fast. Check the ice yourself, follow your host's instructions, and don't go out if it doesn't look right. Every renter agrees to the liability waiver when they book.
