Gift Card Terms
These terms apply to ShackShare gift cards, alongside our Terms of Service.
What a gift card is
A ShackShare gift card is a code, sold by ShackShare LLC, that pays for stays booked on ShackShare. Cards are sold in amounts from $25 to $1,000. It can be emailed to the person it's for or printed.
What it pays for
A code can be used on any shack, from any host, listed on ShackShare. It covers the stay, any extras, the fees and the tax on the booking. It does not cover a security deposit; if a shack has one, it goes on a card as usual.
Your balance
If a booking costs less than what's on the code, the rest stays on the code for your next booking. If it costs more, you pay the difference by card. One code can be used per booking, and it can't be combined with a host's discount code on the same booking.
It never expires
Gift cards have no expiry date and no fees. The balance never goes down unless you spend it.
Not cash
A gift card can't be exchanged for cash, and any remaining balance isn't paid out in cash, except where the law requires it.
Cancellations
If a booking paid partly or fully with a gift card is cancelled and money is due back, the gift card's share goes back onto the code, and anything you paid by card goes back to your card, under the booking's cancellation policy.
Sales tax
Buying a gift card isn't taxed. Tax is charged on the booking when the card is used, the same as any other booking.
Keep it safe
Treat a gift card code like cash: anyone who has the code can use it. If a code was lost or stolen, contact us right away and we'll do what we can, but we can't replace a balance someone else has already spent.
If something goes wrong
If there's a problem with a purchase, contact us. ShackShare can cancel a code bought with a stolen card or used fraudulently.
